Q:Wow. Justin. I've found a flaw in your statement. You aim so hard for abortion to be illegal, yet you seem to forget that it'll happen regardless. Then you seem to be aware of the matter when someone calls you out on it.

Anonymous

I am aware of the matter, just because it happens anyway doesn’t justify it’s legalization. Many other illegal things happen despite the fact that they are illegal (rape, murder, theft, perjury, drug trafficking, human trafficking, tax evasion, drug use/abuse, alcohol abuse, child abuse, child neglect, incest, embezzlement, bank fraud, insurance fraud, disability fraud, treason, breach of the peace, obstruction of justice,  etc, etc, etc,). Because the preceding list happens regardless of the its legality, should they all be legal?

Q:"Personhood is a philosophical concept" Legal personhood =/= philosophical personhood. It should be obvious why fetuses cannot be granted the former.

mediumtrip

Personhood in itself is a philosophical concept. Legality of the matter is also philosophical. The entirety of the law is mostly philosophical rather than scientific. In fact, scientists wish that we stop using their studies for our philosophical/legal matters because both sides love to corrupt the data.

If a human is not a person then they are not a person philosophically and legally. If a human is a person, then they are a person legally and philosophically. Every legal matter to where personhood wasn’t granted to a group of people, they weren’t persons legally or philosophically (which, as I said, are one in the same). Who are we to proclaim that a certain demography isn’t persons? It seems quite oppressive to me.

Q:So you're pro-life, and you think abortions should be illegal, no? What do you think the punishment for women should be who have illegal abortions? Do you think that they should have the death penalty? Should they go to jail? What do you think?

Anonymous

That’s for the law to decide. I’ve heard some people suggest rehabilitation as sometimes their mindset is one of panic and disarray. Some have called for jail time. Mind you she did kill her own child.

Personally, I have no clue, but the woman isn’t the only one that should be punished. The abortionist should also be punished. Probably the same punishments prior to 1973?

Q:Marriage allows you tax benifits, as well as estate planning benifits, government benifits, employee benifits, as well as thousands of other rights and grants. Seriously. There are THOUSANDS. Thousands of things denied to gays just because they can't marry. It may not seem like it to you, but gays are drowning in oppression just by not being allowed to marry. Just stop the butthurt and let it be legal! It doesn't have to be priests who marry them! It can be judges in civil courts! Stop it!

Anonymous

How about we get the government out of marriage? The only reason I hear that gays should be married are for the legal benefits. Rid the benefits, get the government out of marriage, and there would be no problem. I don’t even support the current benefits and such given to married couples as it is. I say get rid of all the benefits. I’m not even kidding.

Seriously, the only thing the government can do is contractually bind two people through the law a.k.a. civil union.
